Book-album “Uzbekistan during the Second World War” has been published

A book-album titled “Uzbekistan during the Second World War” has been published by the Coordinating and Methodological Center for the Contemporary History of Uzbekistan under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The book-album is dedicated to highlighting the contribution of the Uzbek people to the Victory over fascism in the Second World War. It has been prepared on the basis of unique historical materials kept in the “Ozarxiv” Agency of the Ministry of Justice, the National Archives of Uzbekistan, the National Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents, the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defence, the “Shon-sharaf” State Museum, the Oybek House Museum, the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi, as well as in the families of war participants.

The book also includes documents kept in the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk.

The presentation of the book-album took place at the “Shon-sharaf” State Museum. The event was attended by the authors of the book, representatives of the responsible organizations, military personnel, the general public and media representatives. The work was also showcased during the festive program dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

This book-album serves to widely promote among young people the courage and selflessness of the Uzbek people during the war years, strengthen historical memory, and perpetuate the legacy of ancestors.
